The UPSA laboratories (Union de Pharmacologie Scientifique Appliquée) are historically specialized in pain management and self-medication. Doctor Camille Bru founded the laboratories in Agen in 1935.

In the last eight decades, UPSA has developed an unparalleled expertise in Europe in relation to pain, flu conditions, energy, digestion, and quality of sleep. UPSA symbolizes research, quality of excellence and French production: thanks to its extensive self-medication product range, UPSA develops and introduces new medication to treat every day pains.

Since 1951, UPSA’s manufacturing plant was built in Agen, in the department of Lot-et-Garonne (47). UPSA is constantly seeking innovative ways to address health’s permanent evolution. In that regard, UPSA capitalizes on its center for development pharmaceutics to adapt to its patients’ changing needs.

Overall context:

UPSA is the 3rd biggest Consumer Health player in Belgium, with Dafalgan being the most important brand. Dafalgan is one of the top 20 most influential brands in Belgium. In order to strengthen the Marketing team and drive the launches of new innovative products, UPSA is looking for a Marketing Manager Innovations & New products’ launches (NPL).

The Marketing Manager Innovations & NPL UPSA will be part of the Marketing team. S/he will be instrumental in strategic and operational Marketing activities. The role gives excellent cross-functional exposure by executing the category plan in collaboration with the UPSA Global Marketing Team, the local Marketing team, Commercial team, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Department and Finance. He/she will report to Innovation & Digitalization Marketing Lead.

As Marketing Manager Innovations & NPL, the function is fully accountable in building and implementing the marketing plan for all new innovations & product launches for UPSA Belux, as well as playing a critical role in shaping the digital transformation.

This position is office based, in Mont-Saint-Guibert. Close to Brussels and near Louvain-La-Neuve.

🧾Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

Work in close collaboration with the Marketing team in order to:

  • Shape the innovation & new launches marketing strategy, both in disruptive segments as in the pain area.
  • Prepare launch plan (understand drivers for prescription and OTC purchase, key SKUs, forecasted sales) 6-12 months prior to launch in collaboration and alignment with Commercial operations, Finance, and Supply Chain departments
  • Create marketing plans and define key strategic pillars supported by the development and promotion of effective communication and marketing material, in collaboration with Marketing team
  • Lead in managing marketing activities (e.g.Cycle Meeting preparation, business reviews, consolidation of product forecasting, business case preparations, launch readiness plan preparation and validation) in collaboration with the Marketing Team, Commercial team & Scientific team
  • Accompany the field force in the field to gain insights on how to best support them in their sales journey and identify/test marketing ideas
  • Prepare briefings, coordinate and follow-up with external agencies to develop marketing material, market research
  • Lead the brand planning process for HCP marketing & D2C activation

· Monitor competitive situation, market trends and broader environment: Provide information on performance, key competitors, market dynamics, pricing impact and customer/patient needs in preparation of key business reviews and management and/or regional ad-hoc requests

· Be actively involved in product development in relation to the market needs and opportunities

  • Analyze and understand market performance of the focus products and develop short-term tactics to capture market opportunities in line with strategic pillars
  • Responsible to coordinate the promotional budget, spend according to plan and priorities
  • Establish strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders (UPSA International, Commercial team, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Medical department and Finance) as well as external customers (Healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders, Consumers, Federal Agency).
  • Challenges the status quo through new ideas, stakeholder dialogues and pilots. Drives continuous improvement.
  • Create a digital identity for the different brands . Develop websites, Google Analytics & Social Media accounts
  • Create, monitor, optimize and report on multichannel campaigns, overseeing all aspects of campaigns. Manage all steps of the digital campaign set-up and implementation in collaboration with the Marketing team.
  • Enhance customer engagement & experience using all types of digital touchpoints
  • Ensure strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders (UPSA International, Commercial team, Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Medical department, and Finance) as well as external customers (Healthcare professionals, Key Opinion Leaders, Patients, …).

✨ Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in marketing, commercial engineering, business economics, Finance, – or equivalent
  • Ability to quickly learn & adapt to changing environment
  • At least 3/4 years of experience within Marketing role in the pharmaceutical or FMCG industry
  • Strong marketing/digital skills, able to think strategically, develop strong briefings whilst pragmatically enough to ensure excellence in execution
